A Day in Paju : DMZ History & Peace Journey

▶ Majang Lake Suspension Bridge
09:00–09:30
Majang Lake Suspension Bridge stretches 220 m across the calm waters of Paju, with a width of 1.5 m and a mid-span 18 m bulletproof-glass floor offering a direct view down to the lake below. Designed for safety against wind and earthquakes, the bridge connects to a 3.6 km lakeside trail and a lookout café, making it an ideal morning walk where you can enjoy both tranquility and scenic views. -
▶ Imjingak Peace Park
10:20–12:30
Explore exhibition halls, war memorials, the Mangbaedan Altar, and the Bell of Peace, reflecting the history of the Korean War and division. Visitors may also choose to ride the gondola across the Imjin River, or enjoy a light lunch at the on-site food court and cafés. -
▶ Dora Observatory
13:00 ~14:00
A unique vantage point where you can look across the DMZ into North Korea. On clear days, visitors can see as far as Kaesong City and Mount Songak, offering a rare glimpse into life beyond the border and a moment to reflect on the meaning of peace. -
▶ The 3rd Infiltration Tunnel
14:00 ~15:30
Discovered in 1978, the 3rd Tunnel is one of four underground passageways dug by North Korea for a potential invasion, designed to reach as far as Seoul. Measuring about 1.6 km in length and 73 m deep, part of the tunnel is now open to visitors, allowing you to walk through and experience the tension of this historic site firsthand. An exhibition hall nearby also presents documents and videos that bring the story vividly to life. -
▶ Unification Village
15:30–16:00
Located near the DMZ, this village offers shops where you can buy local specialties and souvenirs. A highlight is the unique soybean ice cream, a favorite among visitors. It’s a short stop to enjoy light shopping, refreshments, and the atmosphere of a “peace village.” -
